Alpine MotoSafe Race is a specially designed earplug for motorcyclists that helps protect against engine and wind noise. When you drive at speeds of 100 km/h or higher, you are exposed to a noise that exceeds 90 dB. According to the law, hearing protection must be worn when the sound level exceeds 85 dB. In addition, wind noise can also affect your concentration as a motorcyclist. Regular exposure to noise above 85 dB can cause irreversible hearing damage.
To illustrate how important it is to protect your ears, we have specified the maximum time you can stay at different speeds before there is a risk of damage. At a speed of 100 km/h, the wind noise under the helmet is about 94 dB, which means that you can only drive for 15 minutes without damaging your ears. At 120 km/h the noise rises to 98 dB and you should only expose your ears to this noise for 7 minutes. At 140 km/h, the noise rises to 102 dB, and you can only tolerate this noise for 3 minutes. Finally, at 160 km/h the noise reaches 106 dB and you should only stay in this noise for 90 seconds.
