Full and half masks with replaceable filters are used against dust particles, gases and vapours.
Full masks cover the entire face, while a half mask only covers the nose, mouth and chin.
Both full and half masks are equipped with an exhalation valve, which increases comfort. These masks are available in different strengths depending on the work task to be performed.
It is very important to emphasize that the mask must fit the person!
It is therefore not certain that all employees can use the same mask.
Filtering half-masks may be used at concentrations with a volume percentage of up to 0.1
Filtering full masks: For concentrations with a volume percentage of up to 0.5.
Remember the 3 hour rule when using a mask
Use of respiratory protection, such as a half mask is stressful for the body. Therefore, the period of use is limited for certain types.
Filtering respirators, i.e. where the user must breathe through a filter, may only be used for 3 hours per Day.
If the work is expected to last more than 3 hours, a respirator with a turbo unit, battery or compressed air supply must be used from the start of the work.
Having a beard hinders the effectiveness of masks
If you have a beard, the mask's effect is significantly reduced (more so than stubble). So if the user has a full beard, the mask has virtually no effect, as it will not be able to close completely. However, it is better than nothing.
