For many years, hearing damage has been among the most frequently occurring occupational injuries. Hearing damage is permanent. It is therefore very important to always use hearing protection when traveling in areas with very loud and constant noise. At the security giant, we carry the brands MSA, 3M and Howard Light from Honeywell, among others. The Norwegian Working Environment Authority requires the employer to provide hearing protection if the noise level peaks above 80 dB. However, we at the Safety Giant would like to draw your attention to the fact that even at a noise level below 80 dB, hearing damage can occur with prolonged exposure.
Take care of your hearing with hearing protection
Hearing protection is an important thing to use if you work under a lot of noise for a long period of the day, as it damages your ears. We have a large selection of different hearing protectors that effectively reduce harmful noise. Noise comes in many forms, but where you typically use hearing protection is at the workplace to reduce noise from machines or motor vehicles, it could also be that you are a hunter and would like some hearing protection that can reduce the noise from gunshots, or just for the leisure tasks you have at home that make a lot of noise, for example, it could be when mowing the grass. We sell many well-known brands in hearing protection, such as Peltor, 3M, Hellberg, Portwest and many other well-known brands, which we know are very quality-conscious and deliver the best hearing protection.
Large selection of hearing protection
There are many different types of hearing protection, and each has its own functions. Among other things, you can get passive hearing protection, which can do nothing but keep loud sounds from entering the ear. Where you can also get what are called active hearing protectors which only block out harmful sounds, so you can still talk to each other, and which have other functions such as bluetooth, radio, microphone. We have a large selection of different types of hearing protection and to make things easier to understand, we have mentioned the different types we have here at the Safety Giant.
hearing protection with active noise reduction, bluetooth and a microphone that allows you to communicate clearly and clearly even if you are standing in a noisy environment. You can also use the microphone and bluetooth to take phone calls and listen to music.
You can get an electronic active hearing protector that you can use for, among other things, shooting, which shuts out loud sounds, but you can still hear what is going on and carry on a conversation.
If you wear a helmet, a helmet-mounted hearing protector might be for you. You can get them both as passive hearing protectors and as electronic ones that have all the technology in them, such as bluetooth.
We also have a lot of different accessories for your hearing protection, such as hygiene kits, cables for hearing protection, wind caps for microphones and sweat-absorbing rings.
SNR value
SNR value indicates the hearing protector's attenuation of general noise. In contrast to db, which indicates the noise level, the SNR value is the attenuation that one's hearing protection provides. If you then subtract the SNR value and dB, you get the remaining noise level. The level should ideally be between 75-80 dB. When talking about the SNR value, it is important to distinguish between different sound frequencies.
High frequency sounds (H): screams, shrill sounds, high howling tones etc
Middle frequency sounds (M): Alm. noisy noise
Low frequency sounds (L): Humming sounds.
If a hearing protector has an SNR value of 27 dB, it is not necessarily 27 dB that it attenuates, as there are different sound frequencies, therefore you have to categorize the noise into H, M or L, and follow the attenuation value based on these sound frequencies.
