Brynje Footwear is a proud Danish footwear manufacturer that started back in 1885 in the North Jutland town of Sæby. In the beginning, BRYNJE was a widely producing craft company located in Sæby Centrum. In 1978, production became more specialized, and it was mainly military footwear for the Danish defense that was produced. The experiences from military footwear were later used to produce the first safety and work shoes. In 1991, BRYNJE produced the last military shoes for the Danish defence, which also meant that the company now exclusively produced safety footwear. The company subsequently changed its name to the BRYNJE we know today. In 2012, BRYNJE Footwear was acquired by SIKA, which meant that the company's activities were moved to a joint head office in Herning. The acquisition was part of SIKA Footwear's strategic plans to ensure that SIKA could maintain their current level of activity.
