Here's an example of how to do the calculation: If the noise level is 104 dB and the SNR value of the earplug is 26 dB, the ear will be exposed to 78 dB of noise (104 dB minus 26 dB). The optimal SNR value for a noise level of 104 dB is therefore between 24-29 dB.
